Although dirt biking is one of the most rewarding and fun activities you can do, the main challenge is finding spots to take your ride out and enjoy the scenery. Fortunately, if you live in California, there are an abundance of places to explore so you shouldn’t have to travel far to find something exciting and challenging. Strap on your cheap motocross helmets and let’s go exploring!
When taking your dirt bike out, you can either travel the countryside and tour the sights, or you can go on a more competitive route and ride on professional tracks while they’re not in use. Glen Helen is probably the best of the latter, so be sure to bring your top motocross riding gear when you come.
Although this stretch of lifeless sand and dirt sprawls across multiple states, it’s still a major part of the California landscape. Just be sure to pack enough supplies like water and sunscreen to get in and out so that you don’t get stuck under the harsh sun.
For those wanting more scenery, you can’t do much better than a ghost town, complete with mine shafts and old west buildings. You will want to play it safe when riding around because of the mines, and bring enough light if you choose to venture through some of the tunnels.
The best part about this ride is that it ends at a lake, making it a perfect complementary journey for camping or a water expedition as well. The ground is hard packed and easy to ride on so that you can enjoy the sights more easily.
This spot is popular for OHV enthusiasts, and it also offers camping as well. The whole area is a dried-up lake, so there is a lot of room to drive around and kick up dust. It’s located near Victorville, so be prepared for a long ride out to your final spot.
This is just a sampling of the great dirt bike trails that the Southwestern state has to offer, so feel free to go exploring and find new paths once you’ve conquered each of these.
